Dear Parents,


We will kick off the “LABELS CONTEST” Tuesday, January 22, 2013, and
end Friday, February 15, 2013.


We will be collecting the following labels: Pizza Ranch Wagons, Box
Tops, Campbell’s, Godfather’s Fedoras and Land O’Lakes.

The following are what the school earns from the labels:

Box Tops – 10 cents per label
Campbell’s – 1 to 5 points per label/lid
Land O’Lakes – 5 cents per lid
Pizza Ranch – 25 cents per wagon
Godfather’s – 25 cents per fedora

PARENTS:        We could really use your help, by trimming, separating
and counting the labels, when you send them to school with your
children.  With 494 students in our school this helps us out
tremendously.


PLEASE HAVE YOUR LABELS TURNED IN BY THURSDAY OF EACH WEEK.  This
gives us time to calculate the winners for each week.


Weekly Winner’s – The class that turns in the greatest number of
specified labels for the week will get to participate in the following
activities the following week.

Week 1 (Jan 22 - 25)  “Land O’Lakes ”  Bring your favorite teddy bear
– Thurs., Jan. 31st.

Week 2 (Jan 28 - Feb 1)  “Box Tops” Will wear your favorite pajamas –
Thurs., Feb. 7th.

Week 3 (Feb 4 - Feb 8 ) “Campbell’s”  Will wear your favorite team
apparel – Thurs., Feb. 14th.

Week 4 (Feb 11 - 15) “Pizza Ranch” Will wear your favorite hat. –
Thurs., Feb. 21st.


Grand Prizes – These prizes will be given to the classes that turn in
the most overall labels at the end of the contest.  These will be
announced at a later date.


Also this year the teachers from the top GRADE will get to use up to
15,000 Campbell’s points we earn from the contest.


Thank you for all your support!  Remember we continue to collect all
labels through out the year, you will find containers in the
Elementary main lobby area.

Student Update

Hello all,
Just want to let everyone know where we are at with the semester and school year.  First off, the kids have been tremendous since coming back from Holiday.  This can be a difficult transition time for them and they have been great.  We have been staying very busy and the kids have been asked to start working like 2013 3rd graders!  They are rising to the challenge.

Here are dates and events that are coming up...

- January 15 Dibels Testing
         *students will take their second portion of Dibels (Reading) Test.  I know you already do, but keep encouraging your children to stay busy reading.  Have them find some time at the end of the day to read for 15 - 20 minutes.

- January 16 STAR Testing
         *students will take their second portion of the STAR (Reading) Test.  This is the test that adjust their AR book levels. (e.g. Level 3.1 - 4.2)

- January 17 Students visit Wel-Life (9:00am-10:00am)

- January 18 End of Quarter (More importantly to a 3rd grader) End of 2nd Quarter AR
         *some have not gotten their AR Goal yet, ask them if they have!
